Have you been longing for a younger appearance?

Maybe you have a few fine lines or wrinkles you wish you could erase.

If you’ve been researching your options, you’ve probably seen two of the most common treatment names pop up repeatedly: Botox® and Dysport®.

But:

Do you know what the difference is between the two?

We’ll give you a breakdown of what each treatment is, how they help you, and which you should choose!

Let’s find out.

What’s the difference between Dysport and Botox?

There are many similarities between the two.

Botox and Dysport are used to smooth out fine lines to give your skin that gorgeous youthful look.

Each is administered in the form of injections and relaxes the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles.

And in fact:

The two treatments are made of the same protein.

But they’re not the same.

Dysport is more diluted and less potent than Botox.

Because of this, Dysport is better suited for treating larger surface areas, like the forehead, and smoothing out frown lines.

Botox is perfect for reducing the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead and smaller areas, such as:

  • Moderate to severe frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Bunny lines
  • Lipstick lines
  • Marionette lines

Botox is also an effective treatment for reducing painful symptoms of TMJ disorder, such as:

  • Jaw pain
  • Jaw tension
  • Headaches

What lasts longer: Botox or Dysport?

Your results with either treatment will likely last between three and four months.

But:

Sometimes the effects last up to five months with Dysport and more than six months with Botox.

Follow-up injections will allow you to maintain the desired effects with both treatments.

How long does it take for Botox to work?

You may start seeing results within 24 to 48 hours after receiving Botox treatment, with full results in one to two weeks.

How long does it take for Dysport to work?

Dysport patients typically see results 48 hours after a treatment session, with full results in about two weeks.
